Details for Winter Quarter 2026 Service-Learners via the UW Community Engagement and Leadership Center, or CELE*

Service Learning for course credit is offered most quarters at the UW Farm.

Onboarding Requirements

  1. Sign up with Community Connect UW BEFORE arriving for orientation, or you will not be eligible to receive credit
  2. Complete steps 1 and 2 on our website page, BEFORE arriving for a shift for health and safety reasons.
  3. Attend ONE Orientation session. If you cannot attend an Orientation day we ask that you find a different organization for your course. Find Orientation dates listed below, choose ONE:
    • Saturday, January 10, 9-12 at the east campus farm site, just west of the Center for Urban Horticulture
    • Friday, January 16 1pm-4pm, location same as above

Service Expectations

  • Total hours required for Service Learners is 15 hours for the Winter 2026 quarter
  • Shifts are 3 hours. To complete your Service Learning hours, you will need to attend 5 shifts
  • A good way approach this requirement is by serving 1 shift/week during the quarter
  • We ask that all service learners watch our Virtual Tours on the UW Farm YouTube channel
  • Arrive for your shifts on time and prepared to work physically in all weather conditions.
  • Wear clothes that can get dirty. If possible bring a water bottle and snack.

Please note: Due to our limited resources as a volunteer-based organization, we are not able to send volunteer confirmation emails and do not need to be notified of which shifts you will be attending. Please choose shifts at your convenience after completing both steps of volunteer sign up and we look forward to seeing you around the farm!
