UW Farm Internships

The UW Farm hosts internships every quarter. Internships are open to graduate and undergraduate students and even students at other colleges.

Deadlines:

  • Spring 2026 Internship Application deadline: March 6, 2026
  • Summer 2026 Internship Application deadline: May 22, 2026
  • Fall 2026 Internship Application deadline: September 1, 2026

Qualifications:

  1. An interest in food and urban agriculture
  2. Resilience when engaging in physically and mentally demanding farm work*
  3. Ability to work and communicate in a small group and be a leader
  4. A commitment to community-building, equity and inclusion
  5. Demonstrated examples of previous experience in gardening/farming, such as:
    1. 24 hours of community volunteering at the UW Farm
    2. Completion of at least one quarter of CELE service learning at the UW Farm
    3. Completion of ENVIR240, The Urban Farm, and/or ENVIR340 Farm Practicum
    4. a full season farming or gardening at another location and at least two volunteer shifts at the campus farm

Paid Internships



Unpaid* 10-week Internships for Credit

Requirements:

Academic credit – Beginning Spring quarter of 2026, all interns must register for 3-5 credits with an academic department.  All interns will be part of a cohort and will be assigned chapters in the UW Farm Student Handbook for reading and learning about UW Farm history, production and practices.

Experiential Learning – UW Farm interns are required to complete shifts each week in the field at the UW Farm sites with the farm team and volunteers. All other activities: off-site meetings, remote work, outreach, computer work, writing, etc., are in addition to field work. Additional hours vary according to the internship.

Summative paper or project – by the close of the internship, a summative project or paper is required. Presentations will be at the end of each quarter.
