New Arbor Installed in the Seattle Garden Club Fragrance Garden

On June 7, a new centerpiece was installed to enhance the Seattle Garden Club Fragrance Garden at the Center for Urban Horticulture. This beautiful arbor, designed by Tim Sharp of Iron Design Center NW, was a gift from the Seattle Garden Club, who has supported the Fragrance Garden both financially and with volunteer garden care since its installation in 2007. The Garden was extensively renovated and enhanced in 2015, and the arbor completes the design elements envisioned at that time.

Fragrance Garden renovation enters phase two

The Fragrance Garden at the Center for Urban Horticulture is being refreshed with help from partner the Seattle Garden Club. The declining stripe bark maple will be removed and new scented plants will be added. Manager of Horticulture David Zuckerman said the Acer capillipes has been declining for years. David explained: “it may have verticillium wilt, but more likely to be causing the decline are symptoms of over exposure (sun, temps) during the course of its life in the entry garden.

CUH Update - SPRING 2012

Finding the time to do a regular update has been a challenge as this time of year demands so much of our time as the gardens take on a life of their own! With only two gardeners (one half-time and one 3/4 time) overseeing the grounds, we must scramble to get on top of things and sometimes it doesn’t always happen.
