Growing Food and Farmers
The UW Farm program grows many vegetables—over 6 tons were produced this season—but more importantly it grows farmers. Yes, I’ve learned a lot about plants and growing food—the difference between an allium and a brassica, hypogeal and epigeal germination, what the ratio of carbon to nitrogen should be in a functional compost heap.

Come eat with us! We are gearing up for for dinner on October 23, and you’re invited! Round up your friends and family for a fun-filled evening at the farm, located at the Center for Urban Horticulture. There will be games, pumpkin carving, a food preservation demo and, of course, food!
You’ll be treated to a knockout meal, incorporating UW Farm produce, from the chefs at Chaco Canyon Café.

Read moreWeekly Farm Stand coming to the Burke-Gilman Trail!
Beginning this week (Friday, August 29), the UW Farm will be partnering with UW Transportation Services to set up a weekly farm stand on the Burke Gilman trail on Fridays. The stand will be located just across the trail from the Husky Grind at the Mercer Court apartments.
Get your fill of fresh, hyper-local lettuce, kale, chard, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, carrots, beets, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, turnips, radishes, beans, tomatillos, herbs (parsley, sage, rosemary, oregano, thyme, lavender), mustard, garlic and more!
