Spring Planting Mix – A Musical Playlist for Gardening

Hi all! I haven't written for the newsletter in quite a while. I'm excited to be back! Last season, I was the UW Farm's Urban Farming and Food Systems Intern focusing on sales to UW Dining and planning the McMahon Rooftop Culinary Garden.

This quarter I'm taking on a role with a strong focus on the farm's Weekly Dirt newsletter, which reaches nearly 2,000 readers each week with a 45% "open rate."

I am passionate about farming and will be planning and planting a new Heritage Orchard for my capstone project in The Program on the Environment. The orchard will be planted on the east side of the UW Farm at the Center for Urban Horticulture. I'll likely write more about this, but for this week, I would like to share my Spring Planting Mix  musical playlist for listening to while gardening or just enjoying the spring!

What's your favorite music to listen to while gardening or farming?

If you have suggestions for additional songs, I'd love to hear them. You can email them to me at ericksea@uw.edu.

Food Access Resources

The UW Farm donates regularly to the UW Food Pantry. During peak season we also donate to nearby food banks. The links below are resources to help you or someone you know with food access.

Help The Farm Grow!

Every year, we have the capacity to grow more food and increase our educational and research program at the UW, but not without your support. Every contribution goes to work immediately, helping us better serve students. Your support can sustain our momentum and help seed new opportunities for student internships, academic work, and future growth. Please consider making a gift to the Farm online

The Weekly Dirt is produced once a week by the University of Washington Farm, a program of the UW Botanic Gardens, School of Environmental and Forest Sciences, College of the Environment. It is published nearly year-round for educational purposes and the majority of the content is written or contributed by students and farm staff.
