Around The Farm

Introducing our NEW Urban Farming and Food Systems Intern at UW Farm

Althea is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Environmental Studies, College of the Environment, and new Urban Farming and Food Systems intern at the UW Farm.

Before joining the UW Farm team in April, Althea spent her 2020 summer working on an organic strawberry farm in Oregon. She loves being out in the field and getting to work with the soil.

Her three-quarter internship with the UW Farm focuses on mapping, cultivating, and increasing the sustainability of McMahon Hall Culinary Garden. She will work with chefs at the neighboring dining outlet, Center Table, to help with garden maintenance, produce harvest and delivery.

Althea grew up in Seattle, and when she's not on the farm and in class, she loves the outdoors, knitting, painting, and anything in the realm of creativity and sustainability!

Hails From: Seattle, WA
Hobbies: Growing plants, knitting, painting, drawing, seeing live music, and getting yummy vegan food,
Favorite and vegetable and fruit: Arugula and nectarine

Food Access Resources

The UW Farm donates regularly to the UW Food Pantry. During peak season we also donate to nearby food banks. The links below are resources to help you or someone you know with food access.

Help The Farm Grow!

Every year, we have the capacity to grow more food and increase our educational and research program at the UW, but not without your support. Every contribution goes to work immediately, helping us better serve students. Your support can sustain our momentum and help seed new opportunities for student internships, academic work, and future growth. Please consider making a gift to the Farm online
