Volunteer Spotlight: Cyndy Smith-Kuebel

Cyndy Smith-Kuebel was indoctrinated into the outdoor life from day one. Growing up in Western WA, her father found Cyndy an eager student of scientific plant names and quizzed her up and down trails as they hiked in the Cascade Mountains. This sparked a life-long interest in botany and plant ecology that she pursued at the US Forest Service Cle Elum Ranger District. There, she wrote the field guide for sensitive plants and noxious weeds of Wenatchee National Forest. Her search for plants continues through Rare Care. Cyndy has been an active volunteer conducting rare plant surveys since 2008. Over 16 seasons, Cyndy has logged almost 400 hours in volunteer time and submitted 38 field reports. Thank you, Cyndy, for being such a consistently outstanding Rare Plant Monitoring volunteer.
